“One of the most critical problems our schools face is not resistance to innovation but the fragmentation, overload and incoherence resulting from the uncritical and uncoordinated acceptance of too many different innovations” (Fullan & Stiegelbauer, 1991)
The international Community Designed Education network has designed processes to help schools, businesses and sports teams make the important distinction between outstanding, meaningful innovation and change for the sake of change
Founded by Bill Martin (USA) and Dr John Edwards (Australia), and coordinated in Europe by James Nottingham (UK), we can help you:
- Find your own answers to the creation of an outstanding school
- Develop leadership capacity with all staff
- Understand the renowned Levels of Perspective decision-making tool
- Undertake coordinated, professional action research
- Create a learning environment that enables all learners to grow intellectually, socially and emotionally
Today there are more than 90 schools, nurseries, colleges and universities, as well as many businesses, professional sports teams, health authorities and an immigration service that are part of our network. These are based in Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, the UK and the USA, though we will work in any country. Each organisation supports others in the network by sharing strategies, resources and increasingly, staff.
Every school that has been inspected has shown significant gains since joining the CDE network. In fact, 7 of the schools that have been most recently inspected received the highest possible rating for their country, identifying them as outstanding
