| Self Esteem
"The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential ... these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence." (Confucius, 551 - 479 BC)
Self Esteem is not just about feeling positive and being praised; it is also about feeling resilient and able to deal with challenges.
In the six years as Director of the award-winning Raising Aspirations In Society (RAIS) project, James Nottingham investigated, challenged and identified what self esteem really is and how we can help our young people develop it.
Drawing on this experience, we can design some powerful training for your staff, parents, or both that will help to identify:
- What is meant by self esteem
- How to build aspirations and self esteem
- Five key principles for developing long-lasting self esteem
- The main aspects of Carol Dweck's theory of Fixed and Growth mindsets
- The role of praise and feedback
- Why labelling, either positively or negatively, can be detrimental to self esteem
