| Social, Emotional Aspects of Learning
Creating firm foundations for effective learning, positive behaviour and emotional well-being
SEAL is a framework for promoting the Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning and can have profoundly positive effects on your school. It covers self-awareness, feelings, motivation, empathy and social skills.
James Nottingham, Martin Renton and many of the Sustained Success associates have frequently offered guidance and support to Local Authorities and schools in the UK and around the world in developing key aspects of SEAL.
Our understanding of the SEAL agenda comes from RAIS, a multi-million pound regeneration project directed by James, that aimed to raise the aspirations and achievement of young people across North East England. A primary focus of the initiative was to promote the social and emotional aspects of learning, which in 2005 won an award for it's outstanding contribution to the success of young people in the UK.
Key aspects of our SEAL training include:
- Identifying the aims and outcomes of SEAL
- Developing a fair and equitable school-wide behaviour management system that really works
- Support with the planning and implementation of SEAL materials and lessons
- An insight into Prof Carol Dweck's theory of Mindsets and how this relates to SEAL
- Positive strategies for reducing bullying and intolerant behaviour
- Helping young people to raise their aspirations and self esteem
-
Work with parents and carers to help them support their child's social and emotional development
The content is presented in an easy to use, practical style and is regularly linked to real-life application. Suitable for both primary and secondary schools, our SEAL material can be delivered as consultancy, as a keynote or as training.
We can help your place of learning to be a happy and confident place for all staff and students
